How do I place a bid?

You can place an unlimited number of bids. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the financial means to fulfill your obligation should you win any of the items.

How many bids can I make?

All bids are recorded with a timestamp when they are submitted. First and foremost, bids are ranked by monetary value. If two people submit bids of the same dollar amount, the bidder who submits first will be considered the bid leader. If any bid is retracted, all other bids at that amount will remain eligible based on their time of submission.

If I'm outbid, can I still help?

What will United Way Halifax do with the money raised?

United Way focuses on aiding marginalized communities who are most vulnerable to climate disasters and least equipped for recovery. The organization views these funds as crucial for addressing these challenges and preventing financial distress among affected individuals. United Way Halifax plans to use the funds to achieve several key objectives:

  • Help with recovery and rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Fiona, post-tropical storm Lee, and other climate disasters affecting Nova Scotia this hurricane season.

  • Finance home repairs for households that are uninsured or underinsured.

  • Equip community organizations with emergency supplies like grocery gift cards, preparedness kits, and gas cards to expedite crisis response.

  • Swiftly address immediate needs during climate disasters, including providing food, medication, shelter, and gas to affected communities.

  • Establish neighbourhood hubs as resource centers for essentials and community support, including charging stations and meals.

  • Offer mental health services and social work support for individuals and community organizations affected by climate events.
